We build warehouses, distribution centers, cold storage facilities, transportation/logistics facilities, heavy industry factories and foundries for a variety of industrial clients, ranging from manufacturers of consumer products through to metals recyclers. The volume of industrial construction we do – amounting to some two hundred buildings over the past decade and generating over two million square feet of new industrial space every year – places Reliance among the top contractors in North America in this market.

Recently, given the scarcity of new land in developing metropolises and the constant increasing volume of imports from the far east, the redevelopment and modernization of existing industrial facilities and brown sites to today’s marketable standards, has become a niche market in which we have excelled.

Work began with site decontamination in accordance with environmental laws, and extensive water treatment system for water using in brewing process. Installation of underground sedimentation tanks, piping and treatment tanks was done underground in order to allow space for large fermentation tanks sitting on a thickened reinforced slabs on grade;up to 24" in some areas.

Head office for freezer and dry goods warehouse facility. Building included 25,000 sf of freezer space, 5,000 sf of refrigerated space, 32'-0" clear structure, interior loading docks and 9,000 sf of finished offices.

A 40,000 sf head office and 200,000 sf high volume distribution center including 30 overhead doors, explosion proof room, 32'-0" clear high structure, and a 10" slab on grade.

Dollarama's continuing expansion and opening of retail stores throughout Eastern Canada created a need for an abundant amount of warehouse space in the region. Reliance's role on the project began at the land acquisition stage, consulting on layout and land use/value and soils review. Subsequently, Reliance advised on value engineering, budgeting, design input for construction methods and scheduling. This distribution center of 336,000 sf includes 18 overhead doors and loading docks, 30'-0" clear high structure, and was completed on an extremely fast-track basis in just 3 months.

Project included expansion of existing facility and addition of new floors on top of the original structure. Existing rooftop equipment was removed and relocated to the new roof while maintaining conditioning of occupied space below 24 hours a day. Dynamic load of flight simulators required construction of 18" and 24" independentslabs in some locations. Installation of mobile cranes, and mechanical and electrical systems were required for support and monitoring of the flight simulators.
Private Jet Hangar -- Whitewind 2000  |  35,000 sf

The design and construction of this private jet hanger completed by Reliance is capable of fitting two Global Express aircraft or one larger Boeing aircraft. Fire suppression requirements mandated the construction of an independent 250,000 US gallon underfloor storage water reservoir. Clearance for airplanes required a 50'-0" high clear steel structure and a 150'-0" by 45'-0" high motorized door complete with heated tracks and heated exterior concrete apron.

A 90,000 sf head office and warehousing facility for The Mobilia Furniture Store chain. Concrete slab met extremely stringent tolerances to allow for computer warehouse racking systems.

A92,000 sf head office for sports equipment manufacturer, including 25,000 sf of finished offices, separate production and testing areas and finished showroom space.
Avmor 2000  |  72,000 sf
Contract delivery :
A72,000 sf extension to existing building including 30,000 sf of head office fit-up and 42'-0" clear distribution center. New office mezzanines were constructed over existing interior loading docks, without impeding normal business operations. A400'-0" long, 12'-0" high snow shelf was constructedon the roof of the existing building to compensate for large difference in the heights of the two buildings.

A 190,000 sf aluminum casting facility for an aerospace industry manufacturer. Tight tolerance levels of floors and stringent mechanical and electrical requirements were met to the exacting specifications of the manufacturer. Separate, specific environments were required for each of the different process departments.
